RALLIES FOR MORE COPS

Flanked by TV cameras, former City Councilman John Hartley, demanded City  Hall respond to “crime epidemic that has cut across our neighborhoods.”

Hartley held rallies City Heights, Normal Heights, North Park and Hillcrest on a whirlwind Saturday where he was joined by more than 150 people.

“It’s just not safe,” Hartley told the crowd at the Normal Heights rally. “Every day, we have more carjackings, robberies auto thefts and burglaries. We’ve had murders in broad daylight.”

“Our neighborhoods are suffering because the city sweetheart deals and giveaways for special interests that leave less money for police, streets and sidewalks and fire protection,” said Hartley.

“When I was on the Council, we made fighting crime the city’s top priority. When need to put more cops on patrol immediately and re-open the police/community storefronts.

For the past two years, John has been the chair of Partners for Safe Neighborhoods and personally organized more than 12 Neighborhood Watch groups.

Hartley, a former City Councilman continued. “We worked hard for years to reduce crime. We can’t afford to go backwards now.”

Safe Streets. Strong Neighborhoods.
